People and Places in Cinema: Audience and Theaters

Mersin Film Office, in collaboration with the Mersin Cinephile Film Association, organized a talk and panel discussion titled "People and Places in Cinema: Audience and Theaters."

The event, held at the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Congress and Exhibition Center, lasted throughout the day with insightful presentations, engaging screenings, and productive talks. Art lovers and students from the Department of Radio, Television, and Film attended with great interest.

Following the opening speeches, a talk on “Cinema Audiences and Cinephilia” took place, featuring Bilge Demirtaş and Aydın Çam as guest speakers, moderated by Hakan Erkılıç.

 “The Liberated Audience: The Emek Cinema Struggle” which was screened for the audience. Following the screening, an online talk was held, moderated by Senem Aytaç and Onur Aytaç. The event continued with a talk titled "Fascinated audience leaving the movie theather", moderated by Ulaş Bayraktar, featuring guests Can Özbaşaran and Ece Vitrinel

The documentary "Days of Love, Fire, and Anarchy: Turkish Cinematheque and Onat Kutlar" explores the history of the Turkish Cinematheque, an institution that played a pioneering role in the development of art cinema and the growth of cinema culture in Turkey. The film is presented from the perspective of one of its founders, Onat Kutlar. Following the screening, a discussion took place with director Önder Esmer, moderated by Senem Duruel Erkılıç. The event concluded after this session.

The engaging panel talk, structured in a Q&A format and exploring cinema from artistic, cultural, and social perspectives, provided the audience with a unique experience.
